Description: Thomas Addison Richards (1820-1900) had a long and distinguished career as an American artist most known for documenting the landscape of the South. He was Secretary of the National Academy of Design for 40 years and taught at NYU from 1867 until 1887. In this 1885 letter, Richards states in part: "it will give me pleasure to do all I can for you." On 8 1/4 " x 5 1/2 " National Academy Stationery.
