Size: 4to. 564 pages. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. No foxing in this copy. All edges gilt - bright, rich condition. Leather gilt stamped spine, cloth paper over boards, elaborate gilt stamped decoration and title on front cover, title blind stamped on back cover, extensively illustrated with maps, engraved portraits with tissues, facsimiles, battle plans, and plates of homes and other buildings (one of the most interesting, a two-page view of the Schaghticoke Powder Company's Works, Schaghticoke, Rensselaer Co., NY., complete with a train running alongside the river). Spine badly worn (though gilt still quite bright) and chipped, boards reinforced at spine with tape, boards rubbed especially along edges, corners and spine ends bumped with wear, front and rear hinges reinforced, interior pages are lightly toned.
