Description

Early Scientific Instrument Vacuum Pump:  A wonderful-looking early 20th c. table top model hand-operated vacuum pump manufactured by the Central Scientific Company of Chicago.  Brass tag affixed reads: "Central Scientific Co. Chicago U.S.A. (CENCO) Laboratory Apparatus/Supplies/Chemicals." CENCO was incorporated in 1900 as Central Scientific Company, located in downtown Chicago, and manufactured and distributed science teaching equipment by catalog mail order.  The trademark "CENCO" was used from 1909 onwards.  Base, turned feet, and turned column appear to be mahogany with a dark varnished surface. Pump plate, which is 10½" in diameter (groove to groove), and handle/arm are cast iron. Cylinder to create the vacuum is brass.  Bell jar is NOT included.  Overall: 36" x 10¾" x 29" high.

Condition: Has some speckles of paint spatter & light surface rust on cylinder arm.  Otherwise, very good
