Description: Anton Refregier (1905-1979) came to the U.S. from Russia in 1920. During the 1930s & 1940s, he was involved with the Federal Works Projects Art Program. Among his most famous works is a mural depicting the history of San Francisco in the Rincon Annex Post Office. This original oil painting on masonite is signed and dated upper right: "A. Refregier 1968". It is a powerful depiction of a young man hunched over a guitar with a sliver of urban horizon visible above the wall behind him. 16" x 28" plus original frame.
